Mystery Deepens: High Court Orders Probe into Missing Military Camp Supervisor
Imphal: A cloud of suspicion hangs over the disappearance of a 56-year-old works supervisor from a high-security military camp in Manipur, prompting the High Court to order a thorough investigation.
Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, employed by the Military Engineering Services, vanished from the Leimakhong Military Station on November 25. His brother, Laishram Brajabanshi Singh, filed a writ petition expressing concerns about potential militant involvement in his disappearance.
In response to the petition, a division bench of the High Court, headed by Chief Justice D Krishnakumar and Justice Golmei Gaiphulsillu Kabui, constituted a high-level four-member committee to delve into the circumstances surrounding Singh’s disappearance. The committee, led by the Kangpokpi District Magistrate, will include representatives from the local police and military authorities.
The investigative team is mandated to ascertain whether Singh’s disappearance was voluntary or involuntary. The court has also urged the family to provide any information or documents that might aid the investigation.
As the mystery unfolds, the state anxiously awaits the findings of the high-level committee, hoping to shed light on the fate of the missing supervisor and address the security concerns raised by the incident.
