New Initiative Launched to Protect Women and Children in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, December 4: A groundbreaking initiative was launched today at Ane’s Home, a shelter under the Women Police Station in Itanagar, aimed at combating violence against women and children. The orientation module, a collaborative effort between the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) and Capital Police, aims to empower communities to protect vulnerable individuals.

Senior government officials, including IAS officer Kaling Tayeng and IPS Inspector General of Police (Crime) Apur Bitin, graced the inauguration ceremony. The event brought together a diverse group of participants, including school students, local government leaders, and members of Self-Help Groups from Papum Pare district.

The module is designed to address critical social issues, such as child marriage and child abuse, as highlighted by Supreme Court directives. By empowering communities to recognize and report such incidents, the initiative seeks to create a safer environment for women and children.

Speaking at the event, key officials underscored the importance of community involvement in addressing societal challenges. They commended the Capital Police’s innovative approach through Ane’s Home, which serves as a beacon of hope and support for victims of violence.

Over the next two months, the orientation module will be rolled out across various Panchayats in Papum Pare district, with the goal of reaching a wider audience and fostering a culture of respect and protection for women and children.
