STF nabs 3 drug peddlers, seizes Rs 1.4 crore heroin in Guwahati

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police arrested three individuals and seized heroin worth nearly Rs 1.4 crore in Guwahati on Saturday evening.

Acting on a tip-off, the STF team conducted raids in Balughat and Beltola Bazar areas. During the operation, the team apprehended one individual and recovered 27 vials containing 36.05 grams of heroin, a mobile phone, a scooter, and some cash.

Expanding their investigation, the police raided a rented house in Beltola Bazar and arrested two more suspected drug peddlers. From them, the authorities seized 102 vials containing 138 grams of heroin and two mobile phones.

The total value of the seized drugs is estimated to be around Rs 1.4 crore as per the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards.

The police have initiated a thorough investigation to unravel the entire drug network and apprehend other individuals involved in the illicit trade.
