In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam apprehended three individuals involved in criminal activities during a raid at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) under the jurisdiction of Gorchuk Police Station, Guwahati, on the evening of December 13, 2024. Acting on precise intelligence, the raid uncovered incriminating materials and led to the detention of three notorious individuals.
The items recovered during the operation included a biscuit-shaped fake gold item weighing 742.2 grams, cash totaling ₹1,31,332, and three mobile phones. These findings point to the suspects’ involvement in fraudulent and illegal activities.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Jeherul Islam (26), hailing from 1 No. Ahmedpur in Lakhimpur district; Rupam Das (24), a resident of Katabari Kabaristan in Guwahati with roots in Jorhat district; and Jitendra Maurya (28), from Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, and authorities are conducting further investigations to uncover the full extent of their operations. The swift action by the STF underscores Assam’s commitment to cracking down on organized crime and ensuring public safety.
