Thieves Loot Cash and Gold in Broad Daylight in Assam’s South Kamrup
In a shocking daylight robbery in Uparhali, South Kamrup, thieves targeted a vehicle on Saturday, looting cash worth Rs 10,000 and 20 grams of gold jewelry. The victim, Utpalananda Acharya, was driving his XUV500 car (registration number AS 01 BE 0202) with his wife after dropping their child at school.
The robbers smashed the glass of his car while it was parked near the Uparhali market and made off with the cash and the gold jewelry, which had been purchased for a wedding. The incident took place in front of the market, falling under the jurisdiction of the Bijoynagar Police Outpost.
This robbery is part of a troubling pattern, as similar incidents of car windows being smashed and valuables stolen have been reported in the Bijoynagar area in recent days. Despite the recurring nature of these crimes, the Bijoynagar police have not yet apprehended any suspects or taken effective measures to address the situation, according to local sources.
