Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma Pays Tribute to Ustad Zakir Hussain

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed his sorrow over the passing of tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain, who died at the age of 73 in a San Francisco hospital due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

In a heartfelt post on his official X handle, CM Sangma wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain ji. One of the greatest musicians and personalities India has ever produced, Ustad Zakir Hussain ji has left indelible footprints on the sands of time.”

The Chief Minister acknowledged the late musician’s immense contribution to the world of music, especially his fusion of Indian classical music with jazz in the 1970s, which brought him international acclaim. He added, “The Grammy Award winner, who is one of India’s most celebrated classical musicians, will be remembered for his immense contributions to music. His blending of Indian classical music with elements of jazz in the 1970s will be cherished for generations.”

Conrad K. Sangma extended his condolences to Hussain’s family, friends, and fans, stating, “I send my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and admirers. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Ustad Zakir Hussain’s passing has left a deep void in the world of music, with his legacy continuing to inspire musicians and music lovers across the globe.
