Security Forces Recover Massive Cache of Weapons and Explosives in Manipur
Security forces in Manipur have dealt a significant blow to insurgent groups operating in the state. In a series of successful search operations conducted in Nungbram and Lairok Vaiphei villages in Imphal East District, a massive cache of weapons, explosives, and ammunition was recovered.
The seized arsenal includes a 7.62mm Russian RPD Machine Gun, a 5.56mm INSAS Rifle, a 0.32 Pistol, a 2-inch mortar, a 2.5 kg explosive with Ctn, several hand grenades, two wireless radio sets, and a large quantity of live ammunition.
These operations are part of ongoing efforts by the security forces to neutralize insurgent threats and maintain peace in the region. The recovery of such a large cache of weapons underscores the determination of the security forces to dismantle the networks supporting these activities.
In a separate operation on December 17, a joint team of the Indian Army and Manipur Police recovered five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) weighing a total of 21.5 kg in Imphal East. The successful operation was aided by an explosive detection dog named Eva and the Army’s bomb disposal squad.
