American Motorcyclist Killed in Assam Road Accident

A tragic road accident claimed the life of an American tourist in Lumding, Hojai district, Assam. Elaine Berry Thomson, a resident of Georgia, USA, succumbed to injuries sustained in a collision with a speeding truck on National Highway 27. The incident transpired near Blue Hill Dhaba, leaving the motorcycling community in shock.

Thomson, an avid rider and member of the “Qaidi-Free Soul” group, was traveling solo on her Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle when the accident occurred. A fellow rider from the group expressed deep sorrow, stating, “She was a solo rider and was involved in several bike riding activities. She hails from the USA, it is very unfortunate, we are shocked. She has been traveling to India for five to six years.”

Reports indicate Thomson was traveling from Silchar towards Lumding as part of her motorcycle tour of India. The collision with an unidentified Ashok Leyland truck resulted in severe injuries. Despite being promptly transported to Lumding Civil Hospital, medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival.

The truck driver, however, fled the scene following the accident. Local police from Lumding and Manderdisa have initiated an investigation and are actively searching for the driver.
