Assam’s Higher Secondary TET 2024 Rescheduled to January 19 Following Court Intervention

The Higher Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2024 in Assam has been rescheduled to January 19, 2025, following a directive from the Gauhati High Court. Initially slated for December 29, the examination was postponed after candidates raised concerns over a newly introduced syllabus and insufficient preparation time.

The Directorate of Secondary Education (DSE) issued a notification on Saturday announcing the revised exam date. The notice also confirmed that fresh admit cards will be made available on January 3 through the designated online platforms.

The decision to delay the exam came after the Gauhati High Court intervened on Friday in response to petitions from candidates. The petitioners had argued that the introduction of a new syllabus on December 5, just weeks before the December 29 exam, left them unprepared. The court acknowledged the candidates’ concerns and directed the authorities to ensure a minimum gap of 15 days between the announcement of the revised syllabus and the exam date.

Previously, admit cards for the December 29 examination were released on December 15, adding to the confusion and uncertainty among aspirants. With the revised date now set for January 19, candidates have additional time to prepare for the updated syllabus.

The postponement has provided a sense of relief to many candidates who had expressed their apprehensions about the short preparation window. The move also underscores the importance of fairness and transparency in competitive examinations, ensuring that candidates have adequate time to adjust to any changes in the syllabus.

As the new date approaches, the DSE has assured aspirants that all necessary arrangements are being made to conduct the examination smoothly. The rescheduling aims to uphold the integrity of the examination process while addressing the legitimate concerns of the candidates.
