Assam Budget 2022-23 proposes to build 500-km long all-weather roads at an estimated cost of Rs 1,107.78 cr
Assam state budget for 2022-23 has proposed to build 500 km of all-weather roads over river embankments with an approximate outlay of Rs 1107.78 crore. The budget has also proposed to levy Green Tax on the use of old vehicles.
Presenting a deficit budget Rs 600.36 crore, finance minister Ajanta Neog made a provision of Rs 2,500 crore for paying out of the microfinance loan assistance. The budget further relaxed tax on green leaves of tea for a period of three years from 1st January 2022 besides extension of incentives for the production of orthodox varieties of tea is extended by a year.
The budget proposes to provide capital infrastructure support for building guesthouses/tourist facilities inside the tea garden up to Rs 2 crore each to 50 selected tea gardens during 2022 -23 to promote tea tourism. The tea gardens will also be permitted to undertake non-tea cultivation activities such as agroforestry, solar power projects etc. which will also add to their income.
The budget proposed customised and special incentives like tax sops, capital subsidy, production linked incentives (PLI) amongst others will be provided to the mega industries with an investment of Rs 100 crore or more.
