Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta reviews progress of cancer hospital

State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta reviewed the preparedness of the foundation laying ceremony of the 7th cancer hospital at Sukanpukhuri near Tinsukia on Thursday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stones of seven cancer hospitals in the State along with inauguration of seven completed cancer hospitals, including of Dibrugarh, on April 28. The Prime Minister will virtually solemnize these programmes from Dibrugarh.

These cancer hospitals are being constructed by Assam Cancer Care Foundation at the initiative of the Assam Government and Tata Trust. The minister also reviewed the progress of construction of Tinsukia Medical College and told media persons at the site that the construction of medical college would be completed within a year and all hurdles had been removed, including issue of price escalation.

The minister held a meeting with officials of construction firm, engineers of PWD (Building) and asked them to expedite the construction of medical college as early as possible. Minister of Labour Sanjoy Kishan was also present along with officials of district administration during the minister’s visit.
