The recently held elections were won by Longkumer, who also served as Speaker of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly, running on the NDPP ticket. His candidature was proposed by minister Temjen Imna Along and seconded by adviser Kekhrielhoulie Yhome. According to the assembly secretariat, no withdrawals were made until the day and time for withdrawals had passed.
