Bhutan Nationals Held for Embezzling Money from Assam Farmers

Guwahati: At least two people from Bhutan were arrested on Wednesday for stealing money from farmers in Assam.

The Dispur Police arrested the two Bhutanese nationals who are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from farmers.

The Bhutanese citizens initially purchased rice produced in Assam at a fair price, and later they purchased it from other locations throughout the state without paying for it.

The accused failed to pay the farmer’s dues for at least a year.

They were also charged with paying less for grains in Assam and charging more for it in Bhutan.

A number of complaints regarding the theft were lodged at the police station.

According to the reported allegations, authorities had been looking for the accused for a very long period.

The police were able to locate them and capture them after that.
