Assam: Third Govt Employee Held on Bribery Charges in 12 Hrs
Guwahati: Another government official has been arrested on suspicion of bribery in Biswanath district of Assam, making it three detentions in a 12-hours.
Reports claim that the arrested government worker worked as a Lower Divisional Assistant (LDA) at FA Ahmed High School in Biswanath Ghat.
The LDA has been identified as Md. Anowar Hussain.
Hussain was caught red-handed while accepting tainted money from the complainant for processing pension works.
Informing the third arrest, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption tweeted, “This trap within last 12 Hrs. a team of @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed and arrested Md. Anowar Hussain, LDA, FA Ahmed High School, Biswanath ghat, after he accepted demanded bribe from the complainant for processing pension works.”
A Gram Panchayat Secretary from Morigaon, identified as Mukut Chandra Kumar was arrested earlier today on suspicion of receiving a bribe from the complainant in the amount of Rs. 30,000 in exchange for releasing a check for house repair work.
The cell conducted an operation in Nagaon last night during which a Sub Inspector, identified as Suruzul Haque was caught in the act of collecting a Rs. 15,000 bribe from the complainant in exchange for resolving an old outstanding case.
The SI only had a month to retire from his job.
