Maligaon Stabbing: Another Accused Arrested While Trying To Flee in WB

Guwahati: In a significant development to the Maligaon stabbing incident last night, another accused has been taken into custody by Golakganj police in Dhubri on Sunday.

The accused has been identified as Rabiul Ali.

According to reports, Ali was apprehended as he tried to flee to the neighbouring state of West Bengal.

However, the Jalukbari police had already arrested one Rahul Baishya in connection with the stabbing case.

Amidst Bihu celebrations in the city, two youths were allegedly stabbed in Maligaon of Guwahati on Saturday night.

The victims have been identified as 18-year-old Simanta Talukdar and 22-year-old Rohit Kumar Gami.

Notably, a fight broke out between Simanta and Rohit outside the Maligaon Stadium, where singer Vreegu Kashyap was giving a live performance, and both of them were stabbed with knives.

After being brought to Pandu FRU for initial care, the victims were later referred to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for further treatment.

Gami unfortunately passed away while undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Simanta was kept under close medical supervision at the GMCH.
