Former ONGC DGM & Others Named in FIR Filed by CBI in Alleged Fraud Case

Guwahati: The former Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), a Contractual Medical Officer (Occupational Health), ONGC, Jorhat (Assam), and a Proprietor of a private company based in Jorhat have all been named as defendants in a case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleging fraud.

According to reports, a FIR has been filed against former DGM Bijoy Kumar Shaw, ONGC’s contract medical officer (occupational health), Eashitva Tamuly, and Kiran Physiotherapy Clinic owner Jadumoni Hazarika.

Allegations have been made that all parties involved produced requisition slips for physical therapy inadvertently and in the names of retired ONGC health facility beneficiaries and their dependents, as well as beneficiaries who had already passed away.

It was further stated that the said proprietor claimed phoney and bogus bills which were checked and certified by then DGM resulting into fraudulent payment of about Rs. 19,15,080 to said private company.

Several incriminating documents and items were found after searches at the accused’s premises were carried out in seven locations, including Guwahati, Jorhat, and Dehradun. Furthermore, documents for six properties owned by the said DGM were found.
