Assam: Over 50 students fall ill after consuming mid-day meal in Nagaon
Guwahati: Around 50 to 60 students at a Lower Primary school in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday fell ill after consuming mid-day meals at the school premises in a suspected case of food poisoning.
The incident was reported at the Rajgaon South Jorbagan LP School in the Kampur town.
As per information received, the students began getting sick immediately after consuming the food.
All patients exhibiting symptoms were taken right away to Singimari State Dispensary, where they are now receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, tensions erupted as the parents of children gathered on the dispensary’s property.
The parents alleged irresponsibility on the part of the Principal Swarnali Pathak which resulted in the food poisoning incident.
