Assam: 300 people including leading CAA agitator joined BJP In Digboi
Guwahati: Amrit Dutta, one of the prime agitators of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) joined the BJP on Wednesday at Digboi in the Tinsukia district of Assam along with several other local leaders.
Amrit Dutta, a former executive of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) led the anti-CAA protests. He was also detained by Tinsukia police in December 2019 for his involvement in the anti-CAA rallies, and he was imprisoned for one month.
Moreover, Congress leader, Ashok Sharma, state executive of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba-Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), Anupam Dutta, a leader of Tai ethnic group, Hemanta Burhagohain, also joined the BJP during an event.
Apart from mentioned above, sources reported that 300 others had also joined the saffron party.
