Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Forecasts AAP Victory in 2026 Assam Assembly Elections
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed confidence in the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) prospects in the 2026 Assam assembly elections, foreseeing the party’s triumph and subsequent government formation in the state.
During a campaign rally for Rishiraj Koundinya, the AAP candidate in Sonitpur, Mann drew parallels between Punjab and Assam, emphasizing cultural and economic similarities.
Mann pledged to improve the condition of tea garden workers in Assam by raising their daily wage to Rs 450 and enacting supportive legislation. He criticized the priorities of the BJP-led Assam government, advocating for a focus on public welfare over capitalist interests.
The Punjab CM also targeted Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging neglect of public education and suggesting personal motives behind the lack of improvements. He claimed, “His (Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma) wife owns a private school and so he is not interested in improving and developing the government schools.”
AAP has nominated candidates in two constituencies in Assam for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
