Lobzang Bhutia Resigns from SKM, Joins Sikkim Democratic Front

Bhutia’s resignation from the SKM coincides with his announcement of joining the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party, adding a new dynamic to the state’s political dynamics. His transition from one major political party to another signifies a significant realignment in Sikkim’s political allegiances.

In his resignation letter addressed to the concerned authorities, Lobzang Bhutia clearly states his intention to resign from the SKM. “I, Lobzang Bhutia, CEC Vice President and resident of Rabongla, would like to tender my resignation from the post and primary membership of the party,” the letter reads.

Bhutia’s active involvement within the SKM, highlighted by his candidacy in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Barfung constituency, underscores the impact of his decision to step down from the party leadership. His move to join the SDF introduces a new player into the political landscape of Sikkim, potentially influencing future elections and political maneuvers.

While the reasons behind Lobzang Bhutia’s resignation from the SKM and his subsequent decision to join the SDF remain undisclosed, his departure from the SKM leadership is expected to have repercussions within the party and among supporters. The implications of Bhutia’s move for both the SKM and the SDF, as well as the broader political scenario in Sikkim, are yet to unfold.
