Assamese Bihu Festival Brings Vibrancy to Sikkim University
The Tadong College Auditorium in Sikkim was infused with the lively colors and contagious energy of the Assamese Bihu festival, as the Sikkim University Assamese Society (SUAS) hosted a grand celebration.
The event served as a gathering point for Assamese students studying in Sikkim and professionals from the community to rejoice in their main festival, Bihu.
Organized under the SUAS banner, the festivities showcased the unity and camaraderie among Assamese individuals in Sikkim.
Academics, researchers, and working professionals came together, contributing to the diversity and vibrancy of the occasion.
Guests were treated to an authentic Assamese experience, with traditional food and delicacies that tantalized the taste buds and transported them to the heart of Assam.
The highlight of the evening was the captivating cultural performances by students from Sikkim University. With grace and finesse, they brought Assamese traditions to life through performances such as “Diha Naam,” “Husori,” “Sattriya Nritya,” and “Borgeet,” captivating the audience and immersing them in the essence of Assam.
SUAS President Deekshamoni Tamuli, Vice President Charchita Borthakur, and General Secretary Ritupon Boruah expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming response to the event.
With over 250 people in attendance, the celebration was a resounding success, fostering a sense of pride and belonging among Assamese individuals in Sikkim.
