Twipra Students Federation Advocates for Special Exam and Job Opportunities for Accident Victims

In response to a tragic accident that occurred on May 2nd last year near Dittokcherra in Diam Hasao, the Twipra Students Federation (TSF), a constituent of the North East Students Organization (NESO), has submitted a demand to the Tripura State Cooperative Bank (TSCB). The TSF is urging the bank to conduct a special exam for the victims of the accident, along with offering job opportunities to members of the deceased’s families.

The accident involved a bus traveling from Agartala to Guwahati, resulting in casualties and severe injuries. Among those affected was Dibraj Debbarma from Tripura’s Dhalai District, who was on his way to appear for the Tripura State Cooperative Bank exam. Six individuals sustained severe injuries and were initially treated at Harangajao before being transferred to Silchar Medical College.

In a memorandum addressed to the Managing Director of Tripura State Co-operative Bank, TSF Vice President John Debbarma emphasized the impact of the accident on aspirant students traveling for the TSCB competitive exams.

The memorandum stated, “Due to the accident, the aspirant candidates were hospitalized in the state of Assam, for which the victims of the accident will be unable to appear in the examination. Therefore, in this regard, we requested you to kindly conduct a special exam for the victims of the incident in the state of Tripura. This measure would ensure fairness and equal opportunities for all aspirant candidates, considering the unforeseen circumstances that prevented some from appearing for the exam.”

Furthermore, TSF urged the MD to consider providing compensation to the victims and their families, as well as offering employment opportunities to members of the deceased’s families. Such support, the federation emphasized, would aid in the physical, emotional, and financial recovery of those affected by the tragic incident.

The TSF memorandum concluded with an appeal for prompt attention to the matter, highlighting the significance of alleviating the suffering of the victims and their families while demonstrating the government’s commitment to justice and welfare.
