Sikkim CM P.S. Tamang Honors Dalai Lama on 89th Birthday, Advocates Global Compassion
Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang conveyed heartfelt greetings to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on his 89th birth anniversary, celebrated worldwide as the Universal Day of Compassion. Through a heartfelt message shared on social media, CM Tamang expressed profound respect on behalf of Sikkim’s people, extending their warmest wishes to His Holiness.
Highlighting the Dalai Lama’s enduring commitment to peace, compassion, and harmony, CM Tamang underscored the global inspiration drawn from His Holiness. “We deeply appreciate the wisdom and guidance imparted by His Holiness,” remarked CM Tamang, acknowledging the Dalai Lama’s influential role in nurturing a compassionate worldview. He expressed optimism that His Holiness’ vision for a more compassionate world would continue to flourish.
Concurrently, the Kashag, representing Tibetans in Tibet and in exile, issued a statement from Dharamshala, honoring the occasion with reverence. The statement paid homage to His Holiness, emphasizing his pivotal leadership among the Tibetan people. It noted the presence of distinguished guests, including CM Prem Singh Tamang, Member of Lok Sabha Arunachal Pradesh Shri Tapir Gao, and other dignitaries who joined in the celebrations, both locally and afar.
“As we commemorate His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 89th birthday, we reflect on his tireless efforts to promote global compassion,” read the Kashag statement. It announced plans for a year-long celebration commencing in July 2025, designating His Holiness’ 90th birthday as the ‘Year of Compassion.’ This initiative aims to underscore His Holiness’ enduring commitment to advancing human values and secular ethics worldwide.
