Manipur Police Capture Six Militants in Statewide Operations
Imphal, July 22 — On July 21, Manipur Police conducted a series of coordinated operations, resulting in the arrest of six militants from various outlawed groups across the state.
Imphal East District:
- Khoirom Ranjit Meitei (44), also known as Poirei/Rocky, an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group), was detained. Meitei was reportedly involved in recruitment, arms procurement, and extortion.
Imphal Area:
- Soisenba Oinam (22)
- Lourembam Chingkheinganba (21)
- Ningombam Jerit Singh (23)
These individuals, associated with the KCP (Taibangnganba) faction, were apprehended for extortion activities. Police confiscated three mobile phones during their arrest.
Near Myanmar Border (Moreh):
- Samurailakpam Deno Sharma (23)
- Taorem Yuhenba Singh (23)
Members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (Sorepa group), they were arrested near Border Pillar No. 80.
These operations demonstrate Manipur Police’s continued efforts to tackle militant activities and maintain regional security.
