Laitumkhrah Police Capture Second Suspect in Malki Rape Case

Shillong: The Laitumkhrah police have made a crucial development in the Malki rape case with the arrest of Kitbok Reuben Mawthoh, the second suspect involved in the crime. Mawthoh, who had been on the run since Saturday, was apprehended in Smit during the early hours of September 2.

The arrest, executed around 2:00 am, follows the earlier detention of 19-year-old Andy Malngiang, who was taken into custody in connection with the case. Malngiang is currently held in 14-day judicial custody and faces charges under Sections 351(3) and 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) of 2023.

The case came to light after the victim reported the assault on the night it occurred, prompting the Laitumkhrah Police to act swiftly. The arrest of Mawthoh marks a significant breakthrough in the investigation, as he was one of the two suspects named in the First Information Report (FIR) filed at the police station.
