Nagaland Implements New School Holiday Regulations

September 6, 2024 — The Nagaland Department of School Education has introduced updated school holiday regulations, effective immediately. The new guidelines, which align with the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023, outline the following changes:

  • Foundational Stage (Classes A & B, Classes 1 & 2): All Saturdays will now be observed as holidays.
  • Preparatory Stage (Classes 3 to 5): Saturdays will also be designated as holidays.
  • Middle Stage (Classes 6 to 8) and Secondary/Higher Secondary Stage (Classes 9 to 12): Only the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month will be designated as holidays.

Despite the general rule of observing Saturdays as holidays, schools are permitted to schedule assessments, examinations, bagless days, or extracurricular activities on these days if required.

The new regulations aim to better align school schedules with contemporary educational frameworks and provide structured time for students and staff.
