Nyeman Wangsu Shines at 10th Asian Wushu Championships, Secures Sixth Place in Gunshu

Nyeman Wangsu, a rising Wushu star from Arunachal Pradesh, finished sixth in the gunshu event at the 10th Asian Wushu Championships, held in Macau, China, on Friday. Wangsu, who previously claimed a gold medal in the daoshu event at the 37th National Games in Goa, continues to build her reputation on the international stage.

Following her strong showing in the gunshu event, Wangsu is preparing to compete in the changquan and daoshu events, set to take place on Sunday. As the sole representative from Arunachal Pradesh at the championships, her performance highlights her growing prominence in Wushu and her potential for future achievements.

In November 2023, Wangsu captured national attention by winning gold in the women’s daoshu event at the National Games, further establishing herself as a standout athlete. Her continued success brings pride to her home state and to India.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended Wangsu’s accomplishments, saying, “Nyeman Wangsu’s extraordinary performance in Wushu is a testament to her dedication and skill. Her gold medal at the National Games is a source of immense pride. Congratulations on your success, and may you continue to excel!”
